CARING FOR YOUR WOODEN FURNITURE
Wood is a natural material.
During warm, humid weather wood can expand.
During dry weather wood contracts. These seasonal variations are normal characteristics of wood.
Do not position in front of radiator, direct sunlight,
avoid direct heat, moist environments and not for outdoor use.
Do not use abrasive cleaners. Wipe wood with a damp cloth, followed by a dry cloth. Any spills should be removed immediately. Take care when moving the furniture.
To maintain the colour and quality of the wood used for indoor only.
MINDI WOOD
Mindi is a hardwood timber, coarse in texture and their colour varies from light to dark brown. Natural variations may occur adding a charm to each piece.
MAHOGANY WOOD
Mahogany is a hardwood timber, coarse in texture and their reddish-brown colour.
TEAK WOOD
Teak is a hardwood timber, coarse in texture and their colour varies from golden to brown colour.
Teak wood is typically used in our Outdoor Collection for more intricate joinery in our Indoor Furniture Colleciton.
Leather & Vegan Leather:
Avoid sharp objects and excessive force to prevent scratches and tears.
Keep it out of direct sun to avoid fading.
Keep the design distanced from fireplaces and heating vents. High temperature and humidity can dry leather out.
We suggest you steer clear of wax, polish, soaps and oil leather cleaners. They can affect the finish or discolour the leather. For small spots and spills use a dampened, soft cloth and let it air dry. For oil, butter, or grease spills use a clean, dry using cloth. Do not use water. The spot should naturally sink into the leather and fade away.
Apply a leather conditioner to keep the leather soft and prevent drying out. For scratches rub leather conditioner with your finger or a soft cloth.
For thorough cleaning, we suggest taking this piece to a leather specialist only.
Fabric:
The fabric has been treated for soil and stain resistance. If the fabric gets dirty, apply 10-20ml of detergent solution on top of the spot; use a soft bristle brush to clean the fabric. Softly clean with a clean cloth and cold water. Allow the fabric to air dry.
Water Hyacinth (Rope Weave) :
The French Modernist Armchair - Natural is made from Water Hyacinth rope, a natural unprocessed product. Keep it clean by using normal white vinegar from your local supermarket, spray in low quantities directly into the weaving, and use a soft toothbrush to clean it. Dab dry with a clean towel and allow to completely air dry before using. Avoid using bleach.
Keep this material away from high-humidity areas for prolonged periods of time.

I thought that I would be waiting for weeks to try out my new chair.
To my delight, it arrived in 2 days. I love it! It is firm but very comfortable, all I needed was a comfy cushion and I was in heaven. Couldn't recommend this product enough. Thank you.

The entire ordering process was so easy, arranging transport to Perth was also relatively simple and the end result: a beautifully crafted piece of furniture that I will cherish.
I only wish I had enough $$$ to order more...

I fell in love… with a chair. I dreamt of him (or her) and then finally succumbed. It’s Christmas, and I deserve it. The wait was much shorter than anticipated (a delightful surprise), and the delivery perfect in every way - by that I mean notified the day prior by text and arrived precisely during the one hour time slot as promised. Unbelievable! Carefully wrapped, emerging beautifully from their corrugated cardboard to adorn our living room. Thank you to the genius craftspeople of Larkwood!

Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about the French Modernist Armchair
How do I clean and maintain the armchair?
The armchair is made of Water Hyacinth and Mindi Wood. The water hyacinth can be cleaned using a mixture of water and white vinegar. Mix them in a spray bottle and apply directly to the weaving of the chair. We recommend using a toothbrush instead of a cloth to get any dirt or dust off the water hyacinth.
The wood is already sealed and treated for mold by us, so all you have to use is a dry cloth to remove any dust, we do not recommend using any chemicals like cleaning products directly to the wood, this may damage the finish. Also, do not use any oils or vanish on the wood.
What happens if the armchair breaks?
The armchair has been tested for years, and it can hold up to 200kg at a time.
So your armchair will only come into stress when you put over 200kg on it. Anything that weighs less than 200kg is safe and your armchair will not break.
Do I have to assemble the chair, and what's the delivery process?
The armchair will arrive at your home assembled and ready to use. Depending on where you live, you will receive the armchair boxed up, or in a single faced carboard, either way the armchair is delivered safely to you.
Our couriers travel to each state every 2-3 weeks, so they will contact you a day prior to your delivery to organise the delivery date and time that suits you.
We are flexible with delivery dates and times when we can!
Can I use the chair under a veranda/outdoors?
We highly recommend the use of the armchair indoors, this is because of the effect the humidity may cause to the armchair's materials.
If the armchair is used once in a while under a veranda, it will be okay.
It is best to keep it in a dry place so your armchair lasts you for years!

Impeccable!
Product quality is 1st rate, comfortable as well, but obviously, given the nature of the materials, so break-in time is expected. Service, and delivery were seamless and professional - 10/10

French Modernist Armchair The craftsmanship is very impressive, and they are surprisingly comfortable. They are a real statement piece and I am super happy with them!
I love my new chairs. They’re comfortable to sit in and they look great in our lounge room. The style ensures I will easily be able to put them in our family room or media room too.
After drooling over these stunning chairs I finally bought them. Cant complain. Stunning looking!!!
Love the chairs
Love our new chairs, beautifully made with attention to detail, comfortable too. Delivered and packaged in perfect condition.
I first saw these beautiful and unique chairs online when I was searching for new furniture after my home was flood damaged. I fell in love with them. The EOFY sale was enough to make me purchase and I couldn’t be happier. The service and delivery were fantastic and I adore these chairs. We are still waiting for our house to be returned to pre flood state but these chairs are gorgeous and comfortable. Also bought the Tennessee tables to complement the chairs. These chairs will last a lifetime and I plan on passing them down as heirlooms in the future. They are a statement piece and art. Thank you Larkwood.
These chairs are beautiful. The water hyacinth weave is a bit uncomfortable after about 30 minutes. My biggest problem is the Hunter Express delivery. The tracking didn't initially work, then i was given a span of 4 days for delivery. I asked Larkwood if I would get a more precise ETA and i was assured i would as well as a text on delivery day. None of this happened. The chairs came 2 days outside of the promised delivery dates. I had to be insistent with the driver to carry them up 10 steps. He refused to unbox them for me so it was cumbersome and the boxes are too big to transport to the recycling centre. Underwhelming for the $2600 i paid.
Love my chairs, so comfortable. Beautifully made. Javier and Abby were fantastic to deal with. Communication was fantastic always prompt to return phone calls. Were happy for me to meet at the warehouse to try before I bought. Would highly recommend!!!
Ended up getting 4 chairs and 2 nimoi cube side tables. Absolutely love them. Would send pics but been doing renos and room is still probably at least a week away from being set up properly. If want pics contact me in fortnight. Cheers Scott
Perfect for what I need
This chair is beautiful. It's very comfortable with the small rocking movement that soothes the body. The chair is like a sculptural item adding a little bit of sophistication to my room.
Absolutely love these chairs, quality is next to none
